Mit grossem Bedauern muss der Rugby Football Club Basel mitteilen, dass unser Junioren Trainer und guter Freund Gianluca Cappilli nach langem Kampf gegen den Krebs am 24. Dezember 2024 verstorben ist. Gianluca trat dem Club vor 18 Jahren bei und spielte lange in der ersten Mannschaft. Anschliessend daran war er viele Jahre ein Schlüsselspieler für das Future Team und genoss grosse Beliebtheit und Respekt bei den jüngeren Spielern und Coaches. Vor drei Jahren hat er begonnen die U12 Spieler zu trainieren und dies mit grossem Erfolg.

Unsere Gedanken sind in dieser traurigen Zeit bei seiner Familie. Der Rugby Football Club Basel wird Gianluca nie vergessen und was bleibt sind schöne Erinnerungen an die gemeinsame Zeit und tiefe Dankbarkeit. Grazie Mille Gianluca.

The Rugby Football Club Basel regrets to announce that our junior coach and good friend Gianluca Cappilli passed away on December 24th 2024 after a long battle with cancer. Gianluca joined the Club 18 years ago and played for many years in the first team. Later on he became a key player for the Future Team and enjoyed great popularity and respect among the younger players and coaches. Three years ago he started coaching the U12 juniors and did so with great success.

Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time. Rugby Football Club Basel will never forget Gianluca and what remains are fond memories of our time together and deep gratitude. Grazie Mille Gianluca.
